Weeks 22-23 - Roland-Garros, France - clay

Wow so with seeding Murray has:

Rnd 1 Kuznetsov
Rnd 2 Klizan
Rnd 3 Del Potro
Rnd 4 Berdych
Quarters Nishikori/Zverev
Semi Stan
Finals Djokovic

On current form and with a potential illness I think he will do well to get a set in the Del Potro match.

Just realised kuznetsov was in the semis in Geneva this week. So not a walkover either although I still fancy Andy on that one.

Brown v Monfils! Roland Garros or barnums big top?! I'd certainly pay to see them play!

But Mr Lendl's back in town so maybe he can make a difference.

Would I be right to guess that Robredo has made the main draw courtesy of a protected ranking?  There is no mention of PR anywhere in the draw. He was not in qualies, and was not awarded a wild card.   At 35, I am sure he knows this could very easily be his last GS tournament, so he isn't going to be a pushover

Yes - there are unusually half a dozen players in the draw courtesy of protected rankings - Tommy has the highest of these at 57 (see http://www.menstennisforums.com/5833-roland-garros/893073-roland-garros-entry-list-fact-sheet-updated-may-26-2017-a.html  for list with protected rankings listed via the @ sign )

Yes. Robredo is one of six players entering the Men's Main Draw with a Protected Ranking. Others are Kokkinakis, Millman, Tursunov, Berankis and Janowicz

The match before Evo has just ended by retirement. Come on Evo. Time to show that Barcelona spirit.

Head-to-head:  0-1 (Dan lost to him by 6-7(?) 1-6 6-4 5-7 in that memborable run he had to the last 32 of the USO in 2013).

Decent start by Dan:  takes the first set by 7-5 (two service breaks to one).  smile

Dan doing well so far (particularly on 1st serve) but looking a bit nackered from the heat. Hoping he can keep up his level of play so far and find a way through this match. Let's go Evo let's go!!
