it's because Wimbledon starts a week later this year

Does Andy get 720 points for reaching the semi final I note the rankings page still shows 360 only

Yes.  He gets 720 points, which is a whole lot more than many of us dared to hope for, given where his game was at two weeks ago.

Quick question about rankings for anyone here who might know more than I can find out.

Currently the ATP ranking breakdowns for players is showing that Wimbledon points drop on 10 Jul 2017, i.e. halfway through the tournament. Does anyone know if that is correct?

I ask because I am sure that a while back it was showing Roland Garros points were going to drop on 5 Jun 2017, but then at some point this was changed to show them dropping after the tournament on 12 Jun 2017. My assumption was that the initial date was an oversight and they updated it to reflect the change in week of this year's tournament.

If they do drop on 10 Jul then, with Nadal having no points to defend, it's entirely possible that Andy could drop from #1 midway through Wimbledon.

Basically your assumption is correct. There are no new rankings in the middle of a Slam so everyones Wimbledon points come off at the end of Wimbledon. smile

Would have to say that the RG website makes me appreciate Wimbledon's hugely. Quite dire for anyone with an interest beyond the top singles stars. No doubles videos (even of SFs!) - and almost no coverage of doubles at all. No transcripts of interviews for anyone and only brief video clips. Very little on juniors.

GB has a Roland-Garros title! Congratulations to Alfie Hewett, who vanquished Argentinian Gustavo Fernandez to win his first GS singles title. Hewett and Reid were also RUP in the doubles - well done there, too.

Just for a moment there, I thought we'd won in the boys singles. I thought wow, nice surprise as not been following the juniors in this mud tournament at all. Never the less, congrats to Alfie.

Rafa, having come into the final without dropping a set, indeed more than 4 games in a set or 8 games in a match ( total games 98-29 ) leads Stan 6-2 *3-1

This is surely threatening to be the most overwhelming Slam performance over the duration of the tournament since ???

Crazy to think at 31 and with all the injuries just how dominant Nadal is still on clay. It's not even been a contest against so far. Any other player than Stan and it would be worse so that shows how far ahead he is. Andy would be blasted off court by this display. Rogers so clued up he skipped the clay to avoid Rafa I believe and get his head right for the grass.

Yeah I noticed that Stircrazy, he ll be in ideal condition.
Never underestimate the physical effect of transition from clay to grass. Can see him cantering that title. Similarly I can see both Stan and Rafa struggling again at Wimbledon. Can't see past Roger for Wimbledon again and he ll probably have more support than Murray too.

Loved the Olympic crowd at Wimbledon so clearly and noisily supporting Andy vs Fed.

Roger looked a bit befuffled by it all when it suddenly wasn't his court and his crowd

Borg won the French Open for the loss of 32 games in 1978.
