Weeks 22-23 - Roland-Garros, France - clay

3 hours - Andy won that 3rd set defending like crazy, scampering but never giving in. Mojo back. I know they blamed his various ailments but me thinks a large part of this Paris revival must be down to having Lendl around, calming things down and giving him the confidence he needs. Lendl said something about repetition in training breeds consistency which breeds winning which in turn leads to confidence - a virtuous circle. Good work. Lets finish it off (3 hours for 3 sets BTW!)

Decent tournament still, and onto his favourite green stuff now.

Shame, but he has to be feeling a heck of a lot better than he did at the start of the tournament. An early exit here and the question marks would linger into Queens but now he has truly shaken off the rust and might just be rounding into form at the right time for the Grass.

That was a stunning match. Stan was super-aggressive and Andy almost got there.
We'd have signed up for this at the start of RG.
Onto the grass!!!

Looking at the Race unless he wins Queens and Wimbledon he's going to be maybe World number 4 or 5 by September, maybe even worse. If he manages to stay top 4 ranked by year end Id be amazed. Roger Rafa and Stan all comfortable now for the top 3 and Thiem not far away either if he continues this form.

A grim day for Scotland today all round. 13 snakes in parliament and Andy outplayed. I'd imagine tomorrow will bring more misery for us in the football

I'm a bit gutted after how close he came in that match. But that in itself speaks volumes as to where his game is at compared to before the tournament. Very encouraging couple of weeks and I hope this really kickstarts his season.

Watch him go and get knocked out of Wimbledon in the 2nd round now...

Quick question about rankings for anyone here who might know more than I can find out.

Currently the ATP ranking breakdowns for players is showing that Wimbledon points drop on 10 Jul 2017, i.e. halfway through the tournament. Does anyone know if that is correct?

I ask because I am sure that a while back it was showing Roland Garros points were going to drop on 5 Jun 2017, but then at some point this was changed to show them dropping after the tournament on 12 Jun 2017. My assumption was that the initial date was an oversight and they updated it to reflect the change in week of this year's tournament.

If they do drop on 10 Jul then, with Nadal having no points to defend, it's entirely possible that Andy could drop from #1 midway through Wimbledon.
