One of the seeds out already:  Borna Coric (7) beaten by 4-6 7-5 4-6 by Nikoloz Basilashvili!

Make that two:  Jordan Thompson (AUS/WR 88) has beaten Benoît Paire (8) by 6-7(3) 7-6(5) 6-4.

I see that all three of Kyle's fellow qualifiers have beaten their first round opponents (Elias did for Albot in three, Chung Young in two & Kicker Brown, also in two).  I hope Kyle doesn't let the side down!

3 lucky losers in, feel sorry for Polansky the 4th who didn't get in.

Kyle now started, unfortunately a break down at 2-1, Monteiro serving now.

Now a double break down at 1-4*

Monteiro can blow very hot and cold, so still plenty of time for Kyle to turn this around.

"Beaten Benoit Paire" three of the most beautiful words in the world when used in this context.

Quite surprised at seeing Kyle having to play qualies for a 250. Although only just it seems, being the top qualifying seed.

Strange, if not bizarre trolling.

Given the cut for the main draw is Radu Albot, how in the name of Barry Cowan's chafed left nipple do you think Kyle is "having" to play qualies as if his ranking wasn't sufficient.

Unless the point you are making that Kyle has played *like* a 100-150 ranker this year, in which case I am fully on board.

I say all this with the very greatest of respect, my dad is a clergyman too.

My post was made without having time to look at the draw and wondering if it was an unusually strong entry. Nothing more sinister.

Same could be said about Kyle, certainly to some extent. And if hot meets cold it's likely to be very tricky.

C'mon Kyle.

Just have to break again please.
