I see that Laura has withdrawn from next week's 25K.
Laura would have been top seed, but she does need to make sure her injury clears up so a sensible decision. I wonder if she will be able to fully commit to this week's tournament though, whilst at the same time managing the injury.
If not, I would have thought that the really sensible decision would have been to pass on this week too. Protecting an injury not only may risk that injury further ( though a lot does depend on the nature of the problem ) but can lead to other injuries through unnatural movements.
So I would more hope that it is something she can naturally play through and without really risking excaberating the problem.
Victory 6-3 7-5. No sign of injury except to her racquet which got chucked around somewhat !! Surface looked like grass but didn't sound like it
Laura was in a stroppy mood for pretty much the whole match. Hopefully she is in a better frame of mind tomorrow, as she is playing an experienced opponent who might well take advantage otherwise.
Katy vs Katie should be intriguing. On the face of it Katie is in the better form though they clearly know each other so well it may be difficult for one or both.
Katy needs the result more but Katie seems to be the better player at the moment and have the better chance of reaching the top 200 at the present time, so ideally a Katie win for momentum although Katy winning could push her on here so it's all good. Think Laura might struggle as well.
