In the match Katie got eight break points and took one, Laura had three break points and took them all.
Katie served more aces, seven to two but Laura won more points, 69 to 56.
Congratulations Laura. And well done to Katie too. It's been a great week for both of them and just the right confidence booster with the grass court season coming up.
4th seeds Katy Dunne and Tammi Patterson win the doubles final from a set down 6-7(3) 6-2 10:4 It's the biggest doubles title of Katy's career by some distance, the previous best being Imola 15K in 2014 with Katie Boulter - she won her biggest singles title so far there too.

You may mock but we have a proud carpet heritage, I know it is emblazoned in my subconscious (along with glass blowing and match making, the keeping phosphorous under water type not! internet dating) having had a school trip to the mighty Kidderminster carpets.

Internet dating, carpet courts? I hope they are the 4G variety...IGMC
Brilliant week. My gut feeling about the winner completely wrong. As many have said elsewhere, that's Laura's first ever title. (I'm assuming they're right? I never really follow these things). And she managed to not let it get to her. That might be a real monkey off her back. So nice to see some of the spoils being shared too - and with Katy's title. It's only really Freya who's not come away with anything of any real note from this trip.....
Thanks, the addict. I thought they'd been one not long ago in the US but assumed I was wrong (no recollection of Sunderland). People must have meant at this level and I misread it.
Well done to Laura , biggest trophy of her career.
Unlike Landisville last year which came out of this blue, this week was more of a reward for Laura's consistent performances in Japan. She reached the quarter finals three times, this week the draw opened up, and she took full advantage.
She didn't always play great, but she battled through well and got through without her best tennis in situations where she has failed to beat players she should beat in the past. Also, at her best this week, in the second set against Imanishi, she was absolutely brilliant, hitting winners or practically every other shot.
Laura also now has an unblemished 6-0 record on outdoor carpet, and a remarkably good record in ITF matches that have been streamed. It might be just a coincidence, but Laura's two titles were captured on camera, unlike any of her worst ITF performances.
Great week for Katie too, and like Laura built further on previous good results. Katie was probably the best player in the tournament throughout the week, and definitely had the tougher run to the final. Maybe she got a bit nervous on the big points today, maybe Laura just played them well - I'm hoping the video will be uploaded to tennis366 soon to find out!
The grass court season is always a big one for British players, but it's great that Katie and Laura can go into it looking to build on success rather than relying on it for a change in fortunes. If the carpet courts in Japan at least approximate to grass conditions, they should have an initial advantage there too.
So what's happening with the pair of them now. They've both withdrawn from next week's tourney in Japan. I figure they could do with a break, but it seems along time until the grass court season.
