It does now stretch further a long run ( stretching back into last year ) that whenever Kyle has lost a first set he has lost the match, well as he has undoubtably competed in that time against some top players and sometimes not so top.
Looks like his form has picked up a bit this week so hopefully he can at least make some inroads at the French Open.
1)1st and 2nd Serve, poor
2) Depth of groundstrokes, poor
3)Speed of ground strokes, slower (I think they said on com last night, they were timed at being about 10% slower than last year).
People saying, they have no idea where this poor form is from or down too, need to see it is all those mentioned above. What is causing them, i'm not sure.
Remember when Andy had back surgery, and was in danger of not making the WTF, he vultured 4 250s/500.
Whilst is form is bad, is over all level is so bad, worse than after surgery. People saying Novak is in poor form, Andy's form is far worse.
Have long felt Sock is one of the best doubles players on the tour. No shame in losing to him and Isner, whose serve is a potent weapon, especially in doubles where it's combined with coverage from a partner.
Edit: I think what Indy means, SC, is that both Sock and Isner are underranked in doubles, as they don't play it as frequently as doubles specialists do.

Thanks Spectator. Correct. They are both of course very serious singles players and I am sure would be much higher ranked if concentrating on doubles. Even Sock I feel now much more prioritises singles, which is very understandable given how well ranked he is there. But he no doubt still remains extremely capable in doubles.
I felt maybe unpredictable but potentially a very strong partnership.

Jamie's doubles result against Isner and the Skupskis farcical MTB win again highlight to me just how much of a lottery doubles is I'm afraid. Just can't take it seriously sorry.
Let's not forget sock is the best player in the world right now based on combined doubles and singles ranking, no slouch.
On a serious note, Richard Evans in his excellent biography of Jon Mcenroe ( best player to ever play tennis IMHO!) wrote about this. The unofficial locker room rankings that rated players on singles and doubles. Different era of course and fewer men play doubles but the fact Sock tops the list is at least worthy of noting!

Not sure if it's worse than after his back surgery but I think your 3 points hold good. I'm wondering about the shingles illness that he had. Only know a couple of people who have suffered with that but in each case, although within a month or 2 they were 'better', they didn't feel 100%, in top shape, full of beans as it were for a good 6 to 9 months. I've no idea whether it happens in every case but it seems it's an illness which can have lingering after-effects, a bit like glandular fever.
