Tough draw for Andy really. If Fognini was a more well balanced individual he would have been a top 10 player and when he is on form, especially on clay, he is probably capable of beating anyone. I think Andy might seriously need to look at the benefits of a wild card next week to get some matches in Lyon or somewhere as without any more preparation I can't see him getting out of the first week at RG.
It has to be said that Fognini was sensational tonight. Had it not been for a little choke towards the end, that could easily have been 2&2 for him. The stand out stat for me was the forehand where he was so often just going for broke. He hit 23 outright winners to just 4 UEs. Andy also had no answer to the dropshot which he didn't seem to read at all. I think he must have hit about 10 dropshots, all but one of which was an outright winner and I don't think he missed a single one all night. That was very reminiscent of the DC QF in Naples a few years ago.
Over to you Kyle. Just small matter of Del Potro to keep GB interest alive on the men's side. The battle of the fearhands.
