Katie B on court now too. Saved 2BP's first game and held 1-0

The smallest of margins in that match. I'm not sure Gabi could have done much more. Even though the double faults were high it was because she was constantly attacking.

Whew, that was unfortunate. Gabi was 3-0 up in the TB, then served a DF, and somehow that drained her momentum. Made an error to lose the next point, and then the match just slipped from her. Vekic kept the ball in play those last points and Gabi had another couple of errors ... and that was it, from 3-0 to 3-7 and the match. I don't know what Vekic's problems were that called for all those MTOs but on court she kept moving freely. SOOOOOOO close for Gabi, but a lot to be proud of. Get herself back into a winning position in that kind of match again, and she will have a better idea of what to do....

Yes totally. Gabi just tensed up a bit too much at the end there after having played with relative freedom for much of the match before.

So close for Gabi - but what a supreme effort!

Katie breaks to take the opening set against Wickmayer, though :)

Yanina Wickmayer BEL 4-6 0-0* WC Katie Boulter GBR

Sounds a super effort from Gabi, well done. Such a pity that she couldn't see it through. But as a couple of us said earlier re her draw you play to get into matches like this and hopefully this experience will help the next time she's in such a finale against a much higher ranked player.

Trust she is feeling much better healthwise than last week, and she will now have a few days off, not that she would have wanted them!

Another encouraging Brit performance coming form Katie Boulter.

she won the first set 6-4 and 4-3 up going on serve. Her movement looks much improved since last year
