In their doubles QFs Freya & Katie lost 6-4 5-7 [11-9]. Sam+ won 6-4 7-5.
So our girls come out from their overnight / early morning matches in the Far East ( Japan, South Korea, Thailand ) with a won 8 lost 2 record. Singles 6-1, doubles 2-1. Will take that.
A bit strange that Sam seems to be putting in better performances against higher ranked opponents in her comeback so far, then in matches you think she will win she doesn't do so well!
Looking at the weather reports and the anticipatory message on the order of play it is no surprise that plans have changed again.
ITF live scores suggests that Friday's play has now been moved to two indoor courts with now just the 8 R2 singles matches being played. Doubling up in singles is put off again with at least the Saturday and Sunday forecast looking better.
Freya is due 1st on Court 1 at 11 am, 3 am BST, Gabi 3rd on Court 2 and Katie 4th on Court 1. Hopefully they all caught the bus to the indoor courts mentioned on the order of play.
And they've travelled successfully together before ...
A little younger Gabi, Katie and Freya, along with Maia Lumsden and Judy Murray - our winning Maureen Connolly Trophy team vs the USA in New Haven in August 2014:
Well that was no accident, that's a strong team all of whom are making inroads into the senior game, hopefully you will have the opportunity to post that tweet repeatedly in the future as a reminder of the success of the whole cohort. I am sure I recognise their mentor wasn't she on strictly or something?
