Just to finish this off. Terrible case and Sanders got a deservedly long sentence.

Lets hope the LTA actually do learn the lessons

That was a thoroughly depressing read, though the management and Board level failures don't come as any surprise. Do some of these people have no shame at all ? Where are the LTA resignations ? 3 from the Welsh board. I find it incredible that people are allowed to keep their jobs after such an episode; how many warnings do they need ? It sure reads as though Dan Sanders was protected by those above him.

As you so rightly say, how truly, unremittingly depressing is that article.......

There are a lot more peoples' heads one would like to knock together than just Sanders....

Yes, having been on a national sports governing board (albeit with a miniscule fraction of the resources of the LTA) I tend to be understanding of the difficulties involved, but this appears to have been appalling lapses of judgement over an extended period.

Absolutely awful read and as the article says early on "which happened not decades ago but in this modern era of increased awareness and compulsory safeguarding ..."

After the recent stuff with the FA and the women's national coach, when heads were clearly so buried and investigations not worthy of the name, this is going to much further levels, when involving young girls ( though I suspect much more to come from football ). Compulsory safeguards maybe but hardly even beginning to go through the motions of true safeguarding.

More heads should surely roll and how about a proper investigation into the circumstances whose main aims are not how little can we reveal and possibly come out of it as relatively unscathed as possible. First though get in touch with all these who took the time to give detailed warnings and try "sorry" for starters.

Awful !!

This article disgusts me. I have been on the LTA safeguarding course, which is now mandatory for all coaches, competition organisers etc. They basically implore you to report any small sign of potential issues to their safeguarding team...so they can do what? Ignore numerous complaints, letters, conversations, rumours, even from a member of the police force! This guy should have been removed from his position years and years ago! A new head of safeguarding was appointed in June, I just hope the last one got sacked for this.

It doesn't really say anything new but a pretty damning independent report of the LTA's major safeguarding failings has been released:

In light of Andy Parkers advice, I wonder if a mod is best deleting this thread?

I am not able to as my current profile didnt write any of the posts...

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with this thread and hope it wont be deleted.

No one has accused the named person only reported the facts plus others writing their thoughts on an important subject.

Hi diana and welcome to the board!

I'm sure you're right, I was concerned as the person who started the thread I may have crossed boundaries, hopefully not!

Pleased guilty and was sentenced Jon. Andy P referred in the other thread only to someone accused and found not guilty. That most decidedly does not apply here!

And Diana is correct. The safeguarding failings were egregious.
