Having watched Laura in Constanta, I did feel her ground shots were working pretty well, with a small improvement from Tallinn were she played half decent, and I only witnessed 1 ball toss reload, so hopefully she is slowly heading in the right direction. At the time her loss in her previous tournament didn't look great, but her opponent has since gone on a riduculous run. Also she was recovering from picking up a slight niggle in Istanbul whilst preparing for the FedCup. I think all in all it's probably right to be more optimistic about her form moving forward.
No a single break in the 1st set (that must be almost unheard of in a Laura match) but Kang won the tiebreak 8-6 (a qualifier giving her more trouble than a seed is a bit more normal, perhaps)
However, Laura has just blitzed the 2nd set 6-0

Kang gets a break back again - they were both winning about 75% of their service points in the 1st set but have both won less than 40% of them in the 3rd.

Well done Laura. Playing an obviously talented 19 year old. I noted there was a MTO in the middle of the 1st set which just may account for the dip in the next two sets.
