Not sure why they have to play 2 rounds in one day - seems to be the norm for £80Ks as the same happened in the Ozzie tournaments in Feb. Don't think it would have necessarily changed the outcome of Katy's match as her 1st match was short but could be a factor in Em's. Really like both so hoping for a good couple of weeks in Asia for them.
They have to get seven rounds (Q & MD) in, so as they started Sunday rather than Saturday, they need to squeeze in an extra round somewhere. Mind you, they were using 8 courts today, so they ought to be able to play the whole of MD R1 on one day rather than two
Apparently they moved the match indoors after the first set even though it wasn't raining.
Which is odd. And obviously it killed a bit of momentum and didn't suit Em as well conditions wise.
Annoying!
I saw on the OOP they'd be shifted to Court C10, and checked on Google Maps whether they had clay courts (they don't), and 'C' stood for clay. That really would have annoyed Emily.
Kimiko Date is making another comeback here, 16 months since her last match, and at the age of 46½.
Last time Laura met Lykina in R32, she went on to claim the title.
