What has happened to Luke's singles game? He hasn't won a main draw singles match in 2017!
Luke needed 3 sets to beat Blake Croyder (USA), Croyder has just turned 17, has a junior ranking of 1181 and is unranked in the seniors. Let's hope Luke can turn his luck around and put a few wins together.
I heard he lost his funding so does that mean he no longer gets coaching support from the LTA? Without the watchful eye of a competent coach bad habits can creep in without the player noticing, but his doubles goes from strength too strength, any thoughts?

I believe that Luke has not received funding since 2014 since Mr Downey's grand master plan stopped players training at the NTC. He moved to Nottingham with Mark Hilton & Liam Broady, but Bob Brett intervened & Luke was "dropped" despite having a progression on a par with Liam when compared at the same age. As far as I know nobody from the LTA has even bothered to contact him since early 2015. He seems to have had more support from the Americans than his own countrymen.
As for Savannah - evidently he had a five hour car trip from Tallahassee with Neal Skupski, arrived 30 minutes before the start of his match & obviously had no time to hit.

Appreciate the inside info and welcome to the board. I remember watching Luke train in La Manga with Liam, Toby Martin, Oli Golding and Evan Hoyt. I certainly think he had (and still has) the ability to improve his singles rankings.
L16: (WC) Julian Bradley & Pol Wattanakul (IRL/THA) UNR (1213+0 [but a CH of 716 in December 2015]) vs (3) Luke Bambridge & Mitchell Krueger (USA) CR 411 (188+223)
Luke Bambridge is one of those whom I feel (admittedly from an entirely 'outside' perspective) was ill-served by the LTA. You do not encourage people to forego their education, dedicate themselves to tennis and go straight onto the Tour, only to drop them at age 19.
I wholeheartedly wish that he'd gone the US university route. He seems, from all accounts, to be bright and a good team player. He would have been a star at any university, and four years of good coaching and an education is a lot better than having to make it on your own after being cut adrift. That he has just reached a new doubles high (173) and had so much success on the doubles court despite all the above is a testimony to both his skill and his resilience.

The way things are panning out I can only see the LTA funding a male player every 2-3 years, with big holes where we will be reliant on the US collegiate system or parents paying/players scrapping for cash through coaching and living on a shoestring. Jay Clarke has some support in kind and then it will be the 15 turning 16 year olds.
Strongly doubt that they'd have made it into Turkey together - may have surmised better to have one through than neither. Also, if I remember correctly, Neal Skupski is engaged to an American, so may wish to spend more time in the US than his brother does.
