The fun really starts if you click on any player, then "matches".
First it doesn't give the date of the tournament, nor its level, so there is no way to tell what points or prizes were won when.
Next, it's full of gibberish. Numerous examples of players credited wiith playing 2 opponents in R128, and sometimes losing, before playing 2 more opponents in R64, etc...
Here's Heather at the French Open 2014...

Heather, got a lucky break at this tournament, with a bye through to R64, after which she celebrated her win by dropping back into R128 to see off rising junior Bencic, then fancied a pop at the R32, before finally losing to Radwanska in her next match, a loss which got her through to the fourth round, and her fifth match where she was disappointed to find that MLDB and the Doctor had gone off in the Tardis without her, so she never did get to find out the result of that one.
The last time they 'upgraded' there was a url we could still use to get to the old site. Has anyone got anything similar? Thank goodness for ITF and other live score sites!
Well finally up come the 01/05 rankings but of course in scroll scroll format. I imagine most folk with real interest in following rankings and collecting info and players themselves would much prefer them in tabulated format ( err, like was ) in which it is so much easier to see how players stand in comparison to others and certain ranking points vs positions. But hey nice and pretty individual entries
Although the race points and presumably race positions look fine, the quoted rises and falls from last week are quite entertaining, comparing last week's 52 week overall ranking positions with this week's race positions
As far as I can tell, they've not even acknowledged it at all, anywhere.
Just announcing new sponsors. One hopes the money can be used to at least get the site back to where it was in terms of usefulness.
Perhaps that's the game: make this so awful, that when it's finally restored back to the functionality of the old version, no one dare ask for actual improvements.
No improvement as yet. They did eventually condescend to put up this weeks rankings.
Why can't they just do this: http://coric.top/en/rank/wta/52weeks/ That should be the minimum for them, across the site. It's a fantastic resource. Rankings, ranking compositions, live rankings, fully customisable filters etc. Well done to the creator.
The concerns with the rest of the WTA site remain singularly unaddressed, or even acknowedged as far as I can tell.

Yes, thanks very much for that link. Rather impressed that I had already rather long windedly gathered info, which will be useful now going forward ( much more from the ITF site, before they have silly ideas, than the WTA one whose match history, well among other things, is far from fit for purpose ) and done the live rankings for the top 15 women and I agree every one of these. So we have the same mistakes
No, looks much better than another live site that I could mention ( and that tends to spend the week trying to correct itself ) plus look to be fun other things to explore.
Yay, Jo indeed will be up to WR 6 as the Madrid points come off on Monday. What will though go on the following week from Madrid ? - though taking off the Rome points or other applicable points will have Jo initially into next week with a live ranking of 5. Fair chance she will be passed back again by Halep and Muguruza as the 2017 edition clay points get added back again, but you never know.
The more I check up ranking details the more I think who with any feel for the area can think presenting ranking tables err not as tables is at all a good idea ?!!
Well, they've still not fixed anything, or touched it at all as far as one can tell.
But, the WTA are fully back in the 'Pova hawking business. Three puff pieces today including a trip to the Colosseum, and.. the first plug for the candy line. Due credit though, they did mangae to resist the urge for a whole 18 days, which is far longer than I thought it would be before the blatant advertising began again.

Data I post, opinions I offer, 'facts' I assert, are almost certainly all stupidly wrong.
How useless does the WTA site continue to be in places ?!
I say that after trying to reconcile Ash Barty's race points to see if she still had a theoretical chance of overtaking Jo ( she does ).
Hey, says I, I just need to look through her match history for it gives the points per event, total it all up to agree the total, see the lowest ones she'd have to drop to let big new points in and bingo.
Helps though if they showed total points for events including qualifying, eg a WTA International title winner from qualifying adds 298 points, not just the 280 points, plus for an other two events that she didn't come through qualifying they showed double points scores, scores that don't exist for the relevant events. Overall 7 wrong event points scores shown out of 16 events in her match history. But at least I am now a specialist on how Ash Barty has constructed her points total !
And why anyway have they never showed overall tables for each player of the points making up players' ranking and race totals as the ATP does and Steven's stats do for British players' ranking totals.
At least the actual ranking / race totals always seem fine, which will be a relief to everyone. Maybe the WTA employ outside contractors for that.
Anyway, rant over !!

Also, the last time I looked (a few weeks ago, I can't be bothered to try again now), their ranking list history didn't go back further than the last site downgrade (April 2017?) and even all the old year-end ranking lists, which went back to 1975, had been removed from their old links, as had the old page that half-explained how the rankings work.
They still have plenty of budget for Z-list celebrity-type features and other ways to subtly demean their players, so, er, that must be ok then
