Easy wins for both today, but Emma will probably be tested more tomorrow against a girl with a WTA ranking who routed the second seed

R3

Ioan Dan Abrudan (ROU) v (2) Max Stewart

Girls R1 (L32)

Emma Raducanu d. (WC) Fatima Ingrid Amartha Keita (ROU) 6-0 6-2

R2: Emma Radacanu beat Andreea Prisacariu (ROU) 6-4 6-1

QF: Emma Radacanu vs (7) Georgia Andreea Craciun (ROU)

From only 10 singles ITFs in the last year Emma will now have all 6 of her counters as 30 points or more and 'in running' be up to around JWR 200 on as it happens 200 points. A QF win would give her her highest counter yet, 50 points.

I see that she doesn't really bother with ITF doubles ( one appearance for 0 points ). If she has more limited time than some to work at her tennis it may be entirely understandable to be so particularly prioritising developing her singles.

Disappointment for Max, though he has reached the doubles semis. A tough ask next for Emma - Georgia was JWR12 before she started to concentrate on the Pro circuit (where she recently won a $15K without dropping a set, and is now ranked WTA 648)

Boys QF

Ioan Dan Abrudan (ROU) d. (2) Max Stewart 6-0 3-6 6-1

That certainly sounds a really tough tester for Emma. Be interesting to see how she does.

QF: Emma Radacanu lost to (7) Georgia Andreea Craciun (ROU) 6-3 7-6(1)

Decent score against a player in the top 700 of adults !

And Max and partner have made the doubles final - good luck to them.

Does indeed look a very decent effort by Emma. I could see a really major week coming in Grade 2 or above at some time soon. But as long as she keeps developing all's good.

Very impressive from both, to keep things in perspective Emma's recent opponent is a 99 er and would be an elite US intercollegiate player (ie the Cal no 1 has a similar ranking) and I see had JCH of 12 ie seems to be focusing on transition to seniors.

Fourth time lucky for Max in G2 doubles finals (Emma's conqueror stormed into the final for the loss of just 3 games)

Boys Doubles F

(2) Palosi / Stewart (ROU/GBR) d. (4) Oliveira/Soares Klier Junior (BRA) 2-6 6-2 [10-4]

Perversely good to hear.

Some would ask why is she playing a G2 but actually it is the type of opponent that the very good younger girls need to get site of as there will be weaker tournaments but it is what they will have to deal with at grade 1/A to go deep.
