Phew, as they said in commentary often not pretty, but got better and hopefully a match that will have done Andy a lot of good.

Let's see how he copes with the whippersnapper!

Was out for most of the match.
A big "phew" when I got home!

If Andy can stop Thiem making it 3 Brits in a week, he will go into top 8 in the Race. All things considered, that would be OK.

Talk about winning ugly, the spaniard was a mug. Andy basically won with no first serve, just ground strokes.

Thiem is the most overrated young gun on the circuit. Just a ball basher.

The good thing about today is that Andy turned round a dramatic collapse last week and against the same opponent, came from behind to win. And he fought through 3 hours which is reassuring on the fitness front. His game may not be 100 percent but he's got Madrid and Rome to play into more form and fitness. He may not win RG, Nadal must be a clear favourite, but over 5 sets he will fight anyone else and should be looking at least to week 2 as a minimum target. Or shall I get me coat
..

First set against Thiem going the same way as his first set yesterday. Already a double break down...

Murray's' serve we all know about the issues, but ground strokes also looking very pool (By Murray standard), both direction and weight of them.

Andy down 2-6 *1-1

Going to be a long one again if he's going to pull this round.
