Leeds United

Not sure my old ticker can take much more of this after today.

Birmingham 0-1 Leeds
Birmingham 0-2 Leeds
Birmingham 1-2 Leeds
Birmingham 2-2 Leeds
Birmingham 2-3 Leeds
Birmingham 3-3 Leeds
Birmingham 3-4 Leeds
Birmingham 4-4 Leeds
Birmingham 4-5 Leeds

My live stream died after 90 mins when the score was 3-4.

Apparently at the end of 2018, we had exactly the same number of points, the same number of Wins/Draws/Losses and had even scored the same number of goals. We all know what happened in the end last season.

This year, we have to strengthen the squad. The bench looked very thin again today.

Interviewer to Bielsa: How is your heart rate after that match ?

Bielsa: I'm alive.

Got to love "el loco".

There used to be a saying that if the year ended in a "1" Spurs would win the FA Cup.

Now Leeds have their own little run going.

31st Dec 1989: Division 2 : Position : TOP

31st Dec 1999: Premier League : Position : TOP

31st Dec 2009: League 2 : Position : TOP

31st Dec 2019: Championship : Position : TOP

Any more games like yesterday and my ticker will have given out long before I find out if we can continue the sequence.

I remember a very similar helter skelter game on the 22/12/2018 where dirtyLeeds game back from 2-0 down to win 3-2. Unusually I dont take any pleasure seeing Bluenoses suffer in this way just a bit of pain seeing Dan Crowley thriving despite deserting the Villa academy and that Jude Bellingham is Grealish good but will never wear claret and blue.

As always my reservation is you will run out of puff by May. El Loco is putting Yorkshire cardiology services under an unacceptable amount of pressure but it has to be said fantastic entertainment for the neutral, not that they exist among football fans who were 10 in 1975, my first memory of a cup final is Bremner fighting Keegan and of European football Leeds fans rioting in Paris

I was 10 in 1975 , ,european  cup final year and all that , went to leeds v Norwich first match in 73-74 season.

Harvey, reaney,  madeley, Charlton, bremner, the grays,  lorimer,  Clarke, yorath,  jones where all in my favourites the. Joe jordan and Gordon McQueen came and taught a lesson at my school or would have done apart from McQueen fell off his motorbike coming across so just joe Jordan  taught us. I'm a fan still!

Darn it, you are making me feel old.  That European Cup Final was on my 13th birthday. I cried all night.

My first ever Leeds match live was away at Highbury.  I think it was 1971.  We lost 2-0. I was convinced at the time it was because Gary Sprake was injured and we had "some guy" called David Harvey in goal. He turned out to be half decent though, in the end.

Do you remember David Stewart,  came in to replace Sprake when Harvey had number one shirt secured and Sprake was going downhill. From west brom I think, another Scot. He moved into a house just a few doors down from ours. I was in awe. These days , of course, hed have been in a house worth 5 times as much relatively.

The 1st division/PL was blessed with many great keepers. Dirty Leeds in contrast to many of the teams that dominated football since had a relatively weak keeper. Liverpool had Clemence, Forest built their team around Shilton even Villa had Jimmy Rimmer, later Man Utd had Schmeical.

Just goes to show how good the other 10 were if we didn't need a decent keeper wink

Looks like Leeds could be in trouble with the FA again as Marcelo Bielsa has had his spies at Arsenal's training ground before the Cup Tie tomorrow. wink
