I agree with Indi, Arconada grinding her way up the WTA rankings hardly flying, I watched her in Lubbock in the Autumn and it wasn't pretty, plenty of racket chucking and frustration. There are certain advantages of being a promising US junior around access to USTA events travel support and wildcard s for Albuquerque, Waco, Honolulu and Midland won't have done too much harm. Mand is where she is purely based on performance.

Started off as a typical Mandy match - 3 consecutive breaks of serve

Hmm sadly Mandy can't hold her serve at all at the moment, fortunately nor can Arconada. It's 5-5 with only one hold each so far.

Yes, whoever holds wins. And its not going to be Mandy this set. She will have to hope she can get to the tiebreak.

And into the tiebreak they go, where ironically, they both start winning their serves... 6-6 (3-3)

Well, that was some tie-break. Mandy defended three set points and won on her first smile 7-6 (8)

She's going to have to improve her 2nd serve percentage in the second set though. She was pummelled in the first set - only 1/10 second serves won.
