Mandy and Sophie Chang are going to know each other's game much better by the end of today. They are playing each other twice, both singles and doubles...
Hmm yes, but much less convincingly than it seemed she would. Mandy was 5-1 up, but then lost two games, before winning the set on her 4th break, but having won only 2 of her 4 service games... and she has promptly lost her serve again at the start of the 2nd set, which is not particularly promising. So score now 6-3 0-1*
Awful start to the second set. Broken twice and is now 0-4 down in it, meaning that of the last 7 games Mandy has won only 1.... I'm assuming that Sophie has stepped up a gear, since Mandy is usually fairly consistent, so now she needs to step up further too...
Whew, I had to go out for a while and at that stage Mandy was 0-5 down in the second set and I was having severe doubts as to whether she would come back again in the third, so I'm delighted to see she did!
At the moment Gabriela Dabrowski (WR 349) has just grabbed the first set from Cagla Buyukakcay (WR 108) 6-4, so who Mandy plays next is still very much up in the air. But whoever it is, the QF is likely to require a step up from Mandy....
