Might we dare hope for the Clarkes to have an em-Fatic victory over the other pairing? It would be nice if they could go Galopping through the two matches, so as to have energy for the ones to follow. (Sorry. Long week.)
Jay does the double over the Italian, who put up more of a fight this week:
QF: (4) Jay Clarke WR 418 defeated Davide Galoppini (ITA) WR 638 by 6-2 0-6 7-6(6)
I really feared the worst when he was whitewashed in that middle set, when he kept surrendering breaks in the decider & when he went *15-40, then *40-A down in the eleventh game of the decider before eventually losing it! Nip & tuck all the way through it...
I think Jay has a little bit of Spanish in him. It appears he took a siesta during the 2nd set.
Great to see though that after a good week with the DC squad in Rouen, he is straight back to winning matches. The future looks brighter every week for him.

And let's hope it's not long before his ranking's high enough for him to be able to wave the Future(s) goodbye & move up to the Challenger circuit.

You won't have to wait too long. I believe he is off to Korea in a couple of weeks for a series of Challengers. From what I can gather there will be quite e few Brits on that trip, including (to my knowledge) Alex Ward and Ed Corrie. I am sure there may well be others that I don't know about yet.

Liam should be in that challenger group too. He picked up most of his points last year on the Asian challenger swing and so the next few weeks are fairly critical to him keeping his ranking up around the 300 mark. Failure to defend most or all of those points would see him forced to drop down to strictly futures and even then he would likely not be seeded and run the risk of getting some nasty R1 ties.
The Asian Challengers are make or break for that group is Alex, Liam and Ed. If any of them have aspirations of pushing on then they have to come back for some decent points to otherwise it's the Dan Smethurst, Josh Milton end of the line you feel. Especially with the age Ed and Alex are at.
I believe Eds target was a Wimbledon MDWC earlier this year. I can't see that happening unless he has a few QFs at least.

I think Liam will be traveling and Lloyd as well. Have been hunting entry lists.
Bryan is already in Main Draw Week 18, with Liam, Ed, Lloyd, Jay and Alex in qualies. Liam and Ed will probably scrape into the Main Draw come withdrawal time.
I'm assuming therefore Brydan is skipping French Open qualies. Probably makes sense and it looks and though he is staying in Asia until Grass season. Probably the same as the other 5.

And sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, Spectator:
SF: Nerman Fatic & Davide Galoppini (BIH/ITA) CR 2111 (983+1128) "defeated" Curtis Clarke & Jay Clarke CR 2513 (1422+1091) by a walkover
Jay saving himself for the singles semi? Can't say I'd blame him, if so.
