This is turning into a right old kidney punch of a day for the GB women.
Laura, Hev & Maia all downed already in emphatic or disappointing fashion, and Naomi looking to join them shortly.
Heather did seem to be struggling with some kind of issue, probably not an ideal schedule with the turn around from Mexico, long and very different conditions. Shame as actually her section is bust open and she would have had a chance competing at a decent level to go deep.
Yes, as you said Paul, I suspect Heather was only playing here to try and add points towards French Open qualifying. It otherwise would have been a strange tournament choice between Mexico and the Fed Cup.
She hasn't managed to add points and hopefully she hasn't got any particular issue going forward.

I watched the match on BT Sports 2 Heather was out gunned by Anett from back of the court I know Heather had a strain of some kind but she seemed to struggle in most service games I think she lacks confidence at the moment
With her clay form being uneven to be generous I would suggest Naomi skip French Open qualies if there are some decent ITF hard court events around. I know the potential reward of qualifying is great but it looks a long shot and the points and confidence from stringing a few wins together at some smaller tournaments might be the better option ahead of the grass season.
