Em saved break points, went a break up, then missed 4 points for a double break (two were saved with aces to be fair)

*4-3

Saves break point, double faults on game point, broken

4-4*

hmm

Em breaks again but broken to 15 trying to serve it out. First serve not doing damage today.

5-5*

Suzy a set and a break down and finding the going tough as expected.

Saves a game point, and takes her second break point of the game

*6-5

Gets a little closer, broken to 30 this time. Just not getting any joy out her first serve today at all.

Tiebreak

Manages to protect her serve better in the tiebreak, and takes it 7-3.

7-6(3) *0-0

Suzy was always going to find it tough today, but she's had a good few weeks out here.

Em misses a couple of break points (Samir has an annoying habit of serving aces on them) and is broken in the next game

2-3*

Samir holds to 40 and breaks again, so we're going to be heading to a third

2-5*

The MTOs and her inability to win points on her serve might point to a niggle. But we'll see.

Yup, into a third with a love hold

7-6(3) 2-6 *0-0

Had to break in that fourth game to have any chance of keeping her nose in front. Difficult now.

Broken to 15 pretty quickly, then misses two more break points

*0-2

Think this one is gone, sadly

You can never write her off. From *1-3, she's stormed back to 4-3*

Em managed to hold, then from nowhere won 8 points in a row to go up 4-3* before there was another MTO.

Samir holds comfortably on the re-start

*4-4

As the temperate goes above 30 degrees in Sharm, a 2 and a half hour battle ends. Em saves two match points, misses break point, and we're done.

GSM Samir 6-7(3) 6-2 6-4

That MTO (whoever it was for) killed the mini-momentum Em had built up to haul herself back into contention.

Shame, but it was a heck of a lot closer than I had anticipated. Missed too many break opportunities in the end.

Quick turnaround for qualies at the $60k in Istanbul
