Seems to me that Maia does not travel particularly well - her results in UK tournaments have been better than in overseas competitions.

Well, on rankings the two players were pretty much identical, and so it proved in the score.....

But shame - that seemed a decent chance. Although it's true that Ludmilla had beaten the fourth seed and is only in her first year as adult so is probably under-ranked.

NB congrats to the two French qualifiers, Mathilde and Lea, who put out the first and second seeds, respectively, today.
