That was really good, some classic old-Heather counterpunching matched with a stronger serve and a preparedness to be a bit more aggressive.

She did really well.

My comment still stands. Makarova was fairly terrible and yes Heather played much better but I don't think it's time to get too excited that she's suddenly back. There's still no spring in her step or spark in her eyes. Hopefully if she can pick up some more wins and she relaxes a little bit that will come back.

Heather had 5x as many break points as Kerber in a very close 1st set but sadly, Kerber saved all 5 of Hev's bps and made no mistake when she got one herself. That seems to have taken the wind out of Heather's sails - she has just been broken to love at the start of the 2nd

The 2nd set is going much like the 1st - Kerber has taken 1/4 break points and saved 2/2 and now has match points (Heather has already saved at least one) ... she saves that one too, now has bp, but still can't break through
