One more win should see Jonny break the Top 1000 if my maths is correct?

Really pleased. It's been said often before but it's so easy to mess up the 'easy' match after a spectacular 'hard' match win.

And he now gets an unranked junior (who admittedly put out the 7th seed but was probably a fluke )

I remember Jaggy (or was it Jaffa ?) saying they were excited about Jonny after the livestreaming at Glasgow. And it was certainly true that he seemed to have made major improvements from a couple of years back - a lot more mature and solid game. Go, Jonny !

Yes, that was me! He's going to be a canny player in my opinion!

Sorry, Jaffa - I get you and Jaggy mixed up - not actually, I mean, I know who's who
But the names look a little similar and then I can't remember who posted......
But, yes, I saw him a couple of years back and he was good, but rather gangly, physically and in his game, a 'young' looking player. Like you, some of that recent livestreaming was very impressive though. Great to see.

QF:  (WC) Fitriadi Rifqi (INA) UNR vs (Q) Jonny Gray WR 1101

On the face of it, another great chance...

QF:  (Q) Blake Ellis (AUS) UNR (CH = 1401 last October) vs (2) Brydan Klein WR 249

Indeed, and with the further 4 points that reaching the SF would give him, Jonny would then be nearer WR 900 than WR 1000.

Of course, of far more interest, he would be onto the GB top 25 table !   - as the 3rd youngest after Jay and Joel, his 20th birthday being this coming Sunday.

Looking good in Indonesia this week. Also a win that should qualify Jonny for next week as well without having to play Qualies?

Talking about "Gray"s what has happened to Alistair Gray. Did I read somewhere that he is going down the US College route ?

Yay, all achieved and still in.

So could yet be even more reason for Jonny to have a really big party on Sunday !
