Might be a French Open qualifying strategy, which would be good reason enough. Probably a better chance of picking up the necessary points in the few weeks available.

Useful 18 points for winning 15Ks when he is already at WR 249 and has nothing to defend before the French Open qualifying cut-off date.

This initial Indonesia 15K title looks like it will take him up to around the low 230s in the rankings on Monday week.

Also the lack of ATPs and challengers mean stacked fields in this period. Once we hit May the number of tournaments increases. It seems a bit lopsided at the moment.
