1st serve points won went from 83.3% to 50% between the two sets.
Meanwhile the Bulgarian 1st serve % went from 46.2% to 100%
Come on, same as the first set Laura.

Awful game by Shinikova there to get broken to love. Don't think she got a first serve in the whole game based on the scoreboard. Laura leads 5-3

Well done! Really thought she'd messed it up when she was broken from 40-0 at *2-0 and went a break down. Dug in deep to save 5 break points in the 7th game.

Good job, now PLEASE follow it up!

Laura saves a break point to serve it out. Her serve seems to be getting better at least on the scoreboard. There was a point where if she didn't get her first serve in she may as well have conceded the point. Either it would be a double fault or a weak second which put her on the backfoot but she seemed to be winning a good number of her second serve points today

Well done Laura - it's been a while since she has come out the right side of a close match and I'm fed up of her losing matches where she has dominated part of it. If she could replicate the first set performance a bit more often...

Bizarrely, Laura's second serve was her big strength today - 58% won to her opponents 33%. She won 19 of the 27 points where her 2nd serve was not a fault.

That was just the second time this year that Laura has lost any set in a match but still gone on to win it. (2-6)
Her second best ranking win of the year, and second top 150 win. Her other was also in France, at Andrezieux-Boutheon in week 4 (Burger).

Repeat of the last match scoreline, and the final tournament result, would be lovely.
