Katie had much less the better of the second set and so now they're one set all at 6-3 3-6. In particular Ayla seems to have figured out Katie's second serve as she won only 3/14 in the set, and with only 50% first serves in, Katie was struggling to hold her serve throughout the set, whilst Ayla after an extremely long first game (18 points) was serving much more comfortably thereafter. So Katie needs to up her serving third set, if she wishes to win this...
Katie started this third set poorly again, losing her first two service games to be 1-3 down. Then something seemed to click again with her serve, as she suddenly won her third service game to zero, including 2 second serves. Since then she has appeared revitalised, winning 3 games in a row, even if the score is now still back on serve at 4-3*
And she's won another break... Will serve for the match *5-3

She's had several matches this tournament when she has won several games in a row which suggests she is capable of playing at a much higher level than this when everything clicks. Which we knew, but is good to be confirmed.
Yes, that last service game had everything in it. Confident start, then likely nerves. A period where Katie couldn't buy a first serve. Endless deuces but thankfully not too many BPs... And finally a first serve when she needed it to clinch the match!
Well done Katie, good to come through that... and a 15K title won, 6-3 3-6 6-3
No she has two titles from Sharm in 2014 and 2016. But this one confirms that she is still moving forwards at a steady pace since coming back last year from injury.
