Sam has just taken the 1st set.
Sam and Simona have a H2H of 4-4
Jo has played both once each and won both, more easily v Sam than Simona.

I was so impressed with Arruabarrena, in the first set she played extremely well. Great touch and a decent all around game. Jo just had to stick in and take her chance, which she did. The second was much more one-sided and Jo once again strolled through it.

Onwards! Would love to see a Jo v Kerber Semi. Would be a really interesting matchup, especially right now.

 I think it's strictly speaking 1-1 as Halep comfortably beat Jo at the FedCup in Budapest before Jo made her big move up the rankings. Jo was interviewed on BT after her match, and even she had forgotten that previous match.

Pyschologically exactly the right thing to do! Consider the next game a clean sheet and bring it on. A match to look forward to. It suggests to me her head is in a very good place so different to 18 months ago
