Can't grumble at that. Lloyd is in dire need of an upturn in fortunes. Hopefully that can start now.

Lloyd wins 6-2 6-4!!

Good to see Lloyd playing well again only conceded 6 points on his serve in the whole match.

Good result for Lloyd and yes, very impressive serving stats. More of the same please!

Great news!   Noah Rubin (6/WR 187) or the Aussie qualifier, Alex de Minaur (WR 233), in the next round.

Maybe he has been reading my comments about him spending too much time on twitter and has upped his game. Long term members of this forum will remember when Josh Goodall started attacking me on twitter.

I'm guessing the fight at the Nottingham challenger never happened. I remember looking out for a guy with a Norwegian flag being confronted by an angry tennis player that day.

Or maybe it's taking him a while to settle with a new coach and training base.

Just caught the end of Lloyds match from 2-3* in the second. Looked good from there. He was as good as Rubin was poor. Only one point in those 4 games that I thought he could have done better.

Great to see Lloyd hitting some form at last. It's been a while, but it has also been worth waiting for.

Edit

Gets tougher from here though as he will play the winner of the all Canadian match between Pospisil and Shapovalov.  Let's be honest, Brits haven't done so well against Pospisil so far this year.

It may well be that the record against Pospisil is an issue ... but it may not. I've just watched the last two games of the first set, which Denis Shapovalov has won 6-3. His serve is extraordinary, and his speed/court sense bode well for the future. I'd still not assume anything, as he's young, and Pospisil is good. But ...
