Sadly Dave and Joe loose 11-9 in a champions tie break after having a match point at 9-8. Once again they have proved they can live with the top doubles players. Onwards and upwards, main tour won't be far away now. Wimby WC too please.
With us for now having just the two top 50 doubles players or anywhere really ( Colin Fleming retired and the Skupskis and Jonny Marray hovering around the WR 100 mark ) it would be good to see the doubles potential of Joe and also Luke Bambridge really breaking through. Maybe in time Liam Broady will shift his emphasis, but understandably not for now.
Hear, hear. I'll renew my plea for someone at the LTA not to assume that they can rely on J Murray and Dom Inglot forever, and to invest in some of these (and maybe Mr Cash, who seems potentially a likely prospect).
I just watched, though they're not 'ours', a few minutes of the SF between FAA and Shapovalov (wondering, inter alia, whether this was the youngest Challenger SF ever? in recent history? this year?) Anyway, worth a watch, as we probably won't get to watch either for free for long, I'd never seen FAA play, and it's interesting to see their games. Conclusions: Lucky Canada. And definitely no shame for Ed Corrie in losing.
And is Drummondville FAA's home court? It was quite a partisan crowd, given that they're both nationals.
