Maia under way. She's a perfect 4-0 against France in 2017, so hopefully that continues now, *2-2

Priscilla Heise (born 1990) won her first 10k a couple of weeks ago.

She's only really just decided to give tennis a proper go, played very little really in previous years.

So nothing amazing in her locker, so to speak, but a bit unknown....

Maybe Heis(e) is German, becasue from 2-4 down she was too hot for Maia, and came back to claim that first set.
Maia with work to do, 4-6

Quite a surprise, considering how well Maia has been performing. Surely just a blip though.

We are in danger of having no one left standing past Wednesday on the womens side!

Expected the second set to be closer than it was.....

Just to note, for 'name-watchers', young Guilia Morlet (born 2002), who made the quarters last week, has won her first match again, beating the WTA 593 in two sets.

NB But Soumeya and Natasha are leading 4-0 in their doubles !

They make me smile to watch them play, so go team !

The qualifier, Priscilla Heise, who put out Maia, and is rather an 'unknown', having only recently decided to give tennis a real go, at age 26 or so, has just put out the top seed (in two sets) and made the semis.
So obviously a fair but under-ranked....

Priscilla Heise ended up losing the final to the #2 seed in a final set TB. This follows up her maiden 15K title of a few weeks ago.

I think we can let Maia off with this one !
