Weeks 11 & 12 - ATP 1000 - BNP Paribas Open, Indian Wells, CA

Haven't seen the draw or been following much tennis news outside of the Brits lately, but I notice that there is no mention of Raonic in this thread. Is he not playing this one?

He pulled out of the tournament a few days ago with a hamstring injury, evidently the same one as forced him to miss the recent Delray Beach final vs Jack Sock.

Ah, ta.

Hard to forget how abysmal Murray's record is here. I'm pretty weary of calling it a bye to the quarters. The likes of Lu, Pospisil and Lopez are exactly the sort of players that he would lose to here... in that they are all tennis players.

You always get funny results in IW, but having said that, when the bottom quarter of the draw came out Murray must have been laughing. Murray is at atp 250 level until he he plays Wilfred in QF, and we all know fat stan only plays well in GS so will not make past r2 at IW. Murray should coast to the final here.

The funny thing is that the whole time he was number 1 Novak always seemed to get these cupcake draws and Andy was always stuck with the really challenging route so it is nice for once at least to see Novak in the so called quarter of death.

Yes Novak used to get some great draws, the best being his challenger style draw to reach the final of last years USO.

While raffa and roger are out of top 4 rankings, there is going to be some bad luck draw wise.

So Murray will play PoP first up, could be a dangerous draw, if the pop is on form, in IW the ball goes so fast.

Kyle is 2nd match on today. His potential route to the title is

L128 : Elias
L64 : Djokovic
L32 : Del Potro
L16 : Kyrgios
QF : Federer/Nadal
SF : Nishikori/Cilic
F : Murray

Just a walk in the park really.

Kyle has started. On serve at 2-1* though Kyle had 3 BP opportunities in his first return game.

Slow courts, high bounce - boom.... Courts made for the fearhand.

Kyle wins 1&3. I think Elias would actually have fared better against Murray; he just got pulverised by the fearhand today.
