Kyle wins 1&3. I think Elias would actually have fared better against Murray; he just got pulverised by the fearhand today.

Yep, this is what I witnessed as well. The court was slow enough for Kyle to dictate and overwhelm.

Kyle is 2nd match on today. His potential route to the title is

L128 : Elias
L64 : Djokovic
L32 : Del Potro
L16 : Kyrgios
QF : Federer/Nadal
SF : Nishikori/Cilic
F : Murray

Just a walk in the park really.

Phew.  Well that's got the tough one out of the way.  It all gets easier from here. wink

Oh well, it'll be interesting to see how the fearhand fairs against Djokers on the slow court.

Dan looks like a man on a mission to show that he can win faster than Kedders. Are the rumours true that he's now with Ellesse?

He is wearing Ellesse today

First serve percentage not great and a couple of careless errors, otherwise quite impressive from Dan.

Dustin Brown was rather casual in his approach, although some spectacular winners in amongst the flashy errors.

Nice, quick win in 52 minutes, 6-1 6-1.

Something tells me R2 won't be quite so straightforward!

Very good from both  biggrin

Dan back up to #21 in the live race, one place ahead of Novak Djokovic who now has to face the fearhand.

A couple of smashing results, I hope Dan and Andy had some fun! Is it just me or is this thectournament most likely to have highly ranked singles players playing doubles. Or is it just Andy, aware of his record here in singles getting as much tennis in a he can?

I don't know this for sure, but I suspect that it is the challenging court conditions that has caused so many major singles players to play doubles. It gives them at least one more match preparation. They are also guaranteed to face opposition who has been out on court at least once as well.

Also they are only playing 3 set matches and not on consecutive days so doubles is like a live practice session.

So pleased though that Sky have been showing some of the dubs, some really entertaining matches.  Watched Rafa and Tomic (an unlikely pairing if ever there was one) win and it was just terrific.

Agreed, I think that the only player who's obviously not playing dubs is Fed. I know that there is the old argument about the singles players eating into the dubs territory, but as a fan, I like to see the players that I know, and lets face it, it brings the money in.

A highly experienced and very capable pair up next for our doubles duo.

L16: Dan Evans & Andy Murray CR 559 ( 212+347) vs Jean-Julien Rojer & Horia Tecau (NED/ROU) CR 35 (20+15)

Andy Murray lost in straight sets.... I know he has a terrible record at Indian Wells, but that takes the biscuit.

I watched about half the second set. Pospisil was playing inspired tennis.

I think he's concentrating on the doubles now he's cracked singles!
