Mandy seals a fluctuating set: 3-0, 3-3, *5-3, 5-4*, 6-4

This is a great win for Mandy I understand her aim is to reach French Open qualifiers, so one or two bigger points hauls will be really important for her. 

About 40% of her overall total is comprised too from two events which come off 8 and 15 May (72 points in total), so she needs a few bigger points hauls in advance of those dates to cover the points that will be coming off... Two good wins so far this week, but Conny seems to be playing well too.

Um, it might have been me, rather than Mandy, who set her the goal of reaching RG qualies, which makes it very unofficial indeed.

At present, it looks a bit of a long shot. She would need to pick up about 50 more points by the cut-off date, whenever that is. AFAICT, qualies are in w/c 22/5, acceptance based on a list published about 6 weeks earler, with 25k results not added until a week after they're played; which is, imho, deficient in surdity.

So, my best guess is that she would have to pick up 50 points in 25k tournaments between now and w/c 3 April. Or play WTA Bogota, in w/c 10 April...

In any case, she should be now in a good position in the lists for the bigger ITF European clay events in the lead-up to RG. If she were to beat Perrin, the post IW rankings 2017 would have her around 100 places up on last year's WR353.

Yes, I'd read that her aim was to reach French Open qualifying, a very understandable aim for Clay Mandy.

The great thing re that is that her big points ( 31 due off 08/05 and 41 due off 15/05 ) come off after the qualifying list comes out. This I understand will be based on the rankings 4 weeks before the first Monday of the Roland Garros main draw, so that would be 01/05. 

Her net 4 points added this week and net 8 so far this week take her to 177 points and it looks like a ranking in the low 260s ( a clear CH ) on Monday week with only a total of 6 points ( net 4 ) due off in April before qualifying cut-off.

I don't know the history of the French Open qualifying cut-offs, but she would seem in pretty good shape, and if she can add yet more in the next few weeks ( starting with Conny, sorry ) so much the better in all ways. 

Her big 72 points in 2 weeks will be off before Wimbledon MD and qualifying cut-offs, for whatever that matters re WC consideration and / or how much she is bothered about Wimby. I guess she certainly wouldn't mind a MD WC ! - so if her ranking has fallen back into the 300s by then that would be very unlikely on both ranking and grass record grounds.

Mandy has 105 points coming off May-July. Anything she can do to hedge this is a huge bonus in view of her end-of-year position.
