Looking at this tweet on Bath's twitter feed, I can't quite work out whether Sam is engaged to Marcus Daniell or Divij Sharan - it seems to read Marcus (please write more precisely, Bath ! ) - but, either way, congrats to Sam !!! And wishing her well.....

Long may it continue - #1 in the world in the race to #London - @MarcusDaniell plus @divijsharan at #4 has also trained @TeamBathTennis alongside his fiancé @SamMurray87 - wish them luck in #AustralianOpen2019

Good news ! Congrats to Sam.

Sam has been entering for tournaments, but is a fair way down the acceptance lists. I saw five entries for Week 4, and I think the best she reached was around 19th alt.
I think she is one of those that is going to find entries difficult until there are more tournaments in a week, as she is WR568 and ITF442 - not high enugh in either right now.

It seems from Twitter that Sam married Divij Sharan today.

Congratulations Sam!

So yesterday's title is just Sam's 2nd W25 title, '5 years to the day' since Sam had wrist surgery. And it's clear her (recurring) injury problems over the last several years have been much more serious than I had realised. It would be wonderful if she can have an injury free period for a while, and a chance to show a little more of what she is capable of achieving. The following is from Steven's twitter feed.

From steven:

W80 points go on the rankings immediately, so
@SamMurray87's Cagnes-sur-Mer title win sees her jump 31 places in the WTA doubles rankings to 165, just 17 off her career high (though coincidentally, 165 happens to be her CH in singles)

(Mods, we have two player threads for Sam: maybe someone could kindly merge them?)

Bravo to Sam Murray Sharan

As per Steven,

Many congratulations to @SamMurray87, who finally takes out her 8-year-old WTA doubles career high (148 set in Oct 2013), rising 23 places to 147 after winning the Poitiers W80 title with Mariam Bolkvadze yesterday

So Sam finished 2021 as GB#8 with a total of 239 points.  Here's a breakdown of how she collected them.

So perhaps if anyone has benefited from the suspension of the normal rolling 52 week approach to points, it would be Sam. While she has 5 tournaments from 2021 amongst her counters, they only contribute 24% of her total points (58 out of the 239). Although she only has 1 tournament from Africa amongst her counters, her win in South Africa in 2020, means the 21% it contributes to her total is the most amongst the Top10.  It would seem GB women are far more averse to the dirt, than the men.....Sam is one of 3 GB women who have 0% of their points come from clay court tournaments.

Just for completeness, congrats to Sam (age 34) who took the ITF 60k doubles title in Germany, with Mariam B

Sam has been missing from the tour for some time now and there has been little news about her. This picture rather explains why.

Congrats to Sam and Divij
