And unfortunately, at that point, it all became a little too much for Bob!
Sadly, Kyle lost the deciding set 6-3, I doff my cap to Mr Query, all part of the learning process for young Kyle. I have no doubt he will come again and on a different day (perhaps on a different surface) he will come out of the blocks flying and well and truely put SQ to the sword.
It may however take Bob a little longer to recover, and we should expect a brief period of electronic virtual silence across the southern Atlantic in remembrance of this loss, unless of course Billy starts ripping it up in Portugal and then boucebackability is assured.
Further to earlier court discussion, Paul M mentioned in the women's thread that the courts actually look very quick. So indeed further danger from a player like Querrey.
Pity though and Kyle's 2017 season so far is also clearly very far from a disaster, but certainly could have gone better to date.
Clearly very early still and might soon look much better for a player who in the big picture has kept on a consistently good path.
Jamie & Bruno & the second seeds, Klaasen & Ram are the only seeded pairs left in the competition, the third seeds, Kubot & Melo, & the fourth, Huey & Mirnyi, having been despatched by González (Santiago) & Marrero (WC) & Marach & Martin respectively in the first round!
Just thought it worth noting that having been pushed to three sets by Kyle in the opening round, Querrey has gone on to beat Goffin (6-2 6-3), Thiem (6-1 7-5) and then Nick Kyrgios (3-6 6-1 7-5), after Kyrgios himself had beaten Djokovic in the previous round.
