Week 9 - ITF ($15K) - Macon, France Hard

I see that Alina Silich's SE was due to reaching a 25K final in Moscow last week, beating a couple of top 250 players on the way. 30 points from there has her at a huge new CH 546 on live rankings.

Maybe better I hadn't read that ( anyway other folk can share my "ah ..." ) but Maia has been on form too.

*1-1

Luckily for my nerves, I saw her play a fair bit of the first set, none of the second, and most of the third

Just one little final push needed now .... nearly there.....

Final push achieved, won 6-2 2-6 6-2. Would appear to be a pretty good win.

In the final game she was 0-40*, came back for numerable deuces including one saved MP, and took her second MP

Maia 12-2 on the year, only JoKo has more wins.
Also, 5-2 against higher ranked opposition, no one has more upset wins (though Katie B is a perfect 4-0 against higher ranked players).
If she can keep this sort of form up, she can easily rise 300-350 places, and then we'll see.

All seemingly very even apart from Maia's second serve, on which she won 26% of points, compared to her opponent, who won 30+% more on hers.

Maia was actually 4-1* up in that 1st set but Rosatello then won 13 points in a row and broke again in the 9th game before Maia broke back for 5-5.
