Week 9 - ITF ($15K) - Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt Hard

Nice to see Katie put in a solid performance. Historically she has been a bit of a slow starter, let's hope she is up and running in her final year of junior eligibility!

First set in the bag, 6-3
If Katie wins, the SF line will be comprised of the top 4 seeds.

Well done Katie. Playing herself into solid form.
Emily beat Terziyska in last weeks Sharm final, and GB are 2-0 on Bulgaria this year (Naomi d. Karatantcheva in Midland).
Let's keep both those streaks intact, shall we.

Good to see.

So far takes Katie up to 96 points and she will supersede her CH 383 ( November 2016 ) in the post Indian Wells rankings.

In the short term she does have 26 points coming off post Miami, including 20 points for reaching last year's Miami FQR as a wildcard. But the medium to longer term is of considerably more interest and it would be great to see her consistently fit and picking up some momentum.

Broken serving at *5-5, and that was enough to see the set slip away, 5-7

Katie was 5-3 up, and lost 4 games in a row. But pretty level set - 41 points to 42 and 1 break to 2

Set 2, Katie saved 8 BP, and then broke on her first one

Bit of a steal. Generally pretty even, except Terziyska on BP 1/10, Katie 2/2.
5-7 7-5

Yes, in general the number of points played on each other's serve and the number of BPs ( especially if spread over a number of games ) is the real indicator of who is putting the pressure on. If you eventually win the game you win it by 2 points ( unless in doubles world ) which keeps the points totals generally pretty level.

Though it is certainly a good quality if you can come through that pressure. Some play pressure points better than others.

Katie with work to do again, 1-2*
