Having read what Cirstea has said. I have lost all respect for her. I won't even lower myself to pick apart what she said.
Probably worth watching the video posted on the previous page for more context.
Yes, the video is well worth a look. A headline remark can simply leave the impression of a bad loser who has accused Jo of being a cheat ( which she effectively did ) but to me it is all rather more complex than that.
Cirstea began by saying that Jo was the better player on the day Much of her confusion / frustration is understandable such as the extra game after all the Nastase business at 2-1 and then stoppage after she breaks for 3-1 and then apparently no one really giving her any idea of what happens now, how long the suspension for.
As Spectator says she is making too much of "sorry" but I do think that that is indeed cultural rather than deliberately mischievous. It clearly looks a bad implication on Jo, but considering everything I think it can be understood. A lot of Romanian underdog frustration pours out and she does seem to think she has been done over.
It's an unfortunate business all round, but at the heart of it all is Nastase. So far I'd be much less critical of the Romanian players.

This is all part of playing sport in Eastern Europe, understanding what is and isn't acceptable on grounds of equality is evolving in the way in which it did through the 70's and 80's in the UK and if you attend a football match in the U.K. you will realise we (as in the general population of the UK are way off being where we need to be but grounds are full and generally all tiers of society engaged) also have work to do.
Very impressed with Anne she had obviously thought it through given what happened in Belgium, also impressed with the Romanian players, to comment in the heat of the moment is difficult and it's easy to get misinterpreted and picked apart. I have a certain empathy for the Romanian players who have been let down by their managers, federation etc.. but are doing all they can do.
We have to continue to show resilience and beat them. Plenty to be gained and learnt from this tie regardless of the outcome for all parties.
