Was working so couldn't follow it. But reading this thread and on line, I've never heard anything like it !!!!!
As everyone says, you absolutely can't allow that. It's worse from a captain than a player. What the **** do the authorities think they are doing?
As to allowing a new captain to sit in, so if a player gets defaulted, you can send in a new player to take their place? I don't think so.
Its like that stupid situation in Football where managers are sent off or even banned for multiple games. All they do is go into the stands and are on the phone to the bench giving instructions so the punishment is limited. They kept showing shots of Halep on her phone so he could have been sending her messages to pass on. If the captain is ejected there shouldnt be a way for the captain to get messages passed on
Disgraceful stuff from Nastase and the crowd, and I don't really know where to start, but 1st and foremost Jo played an unbelievable match, tennis wise and mentally to overcome such a shocking experience. Tomorrow will be interesting !!
Hmm, just seen some of Glasspool's tweets about good for viewing figures. And his language could be better, it's not cool, mate. I don't know if he deleted any.
I kind of took note earlier in the year when he got badly knocked out in a GB future. He came out with "do they know who I am" kind of stuff, that he was the highest ranked British player there and had been put on the worst court.
Be good if your tennis results were rather better, Lloyd.
I do get the point he is making. It's probably the best thing to happen for British Fed Cup in terms of being in the wider public consciousnes. It's disgusting that it was allowed to happen but an uneventful match would have done little to raise the profile where as controversy does especially in sport. Just look at the top story on most of the paper websites, it's this on the main page not the sports subsection
ITF have announced that Nastase's accreditation has been removed and he will play no further part in the tie. And they have launched an investigation into today's events, and also other events earlier this week
I was quite a distance from the umpires chair, so got all the bad language that was used from other sources, but then the odd person in the crowd started to heckle Jo, for possibly her connection to Hungary, and that was the final straw, I was only a few yards away from Jo and she absolutely crying her eyes out, such a horrid experience to go through, and one which shows how much strength of character she does have. Every match tomorrow for me is in the balance.
The Hungarians don't like the Romanians, we saw real evidence of it when we stayed for a few days in a rural village in Romania which was not so long ago part of Hungary, though agreed the other side of the country, west of Cluj.
They still hold onto their "Hungarian colours" and have a room decorated as such, and speak Hungarian in the village when there's no officials about.

I think what undermined his point was calling it 'quality entertainment'.
Nastase also made what appeared to be unwelcome advances toward Keothavong during Thursdays official dinner that preceded Saturdays Fed Cup tie. According to the PA, Nastase repeatedly asked Keothavong for her hotel room number and then put his arm tightly around Keothavongs shoulder during a photo sessions. Keothavong, it should be noted, is married and 18 weeks pregnant.
Being reported now that the head of the Romanian Tennis Federation think his comments about the colour of Serena'a baby are fine because "he is good friends with Yannick Noah". (I assume those are the comments he is referring to)
Russell Fuller has tweeted this
The Romanian Federation President is George Cosac. He thinks Nastase's Friday comments are OK as "he's a very good friend with Yannick Noah"
