Have to confess (although nobody will believe me) that I thought Ryan would win that one. My prediction was based on the fact that Billy Harris beat Geens last year in Cartagena.

 I believe you !

Why wouldn't you???? smile

I'm absolutely thrilled for Ryan. He's always been my fave 98-er, tightly followed by Jay: the two are in the list as top 500-ers - one's there, lets hope the other gets there quite soon too. Interesting that the two have completely different games; they make a great pair. SO good for GB tennis... And that's taking nothing away from the other 98-ers too.

And, yes, that ankle injury Ryan picked up at Wimbly last year has dragged on in a nasty way. And training set-up issues haven't been easy either....

But a lovely day for him. His first ranking point....

And that's the joy of home events and wildcards biggrin

Folowing ...
Ryan beating the #1 seed ... and
Lloyd, the #3 seed, losing  ...

Joel Cannell is set all with the #2 seed, 4-6 6-1 2-2*. The winner plays Jonny Gray.

Other way round Indi.  Ryan beat the 2nd seed.  Joel is playing the top seed.

3-3* now

Bah, yes I just realised that I had erred and came back to quietly fix it, but ...

Not to be, but what a great effort from Joel. The top seed survives winning the 3rd set breaker 7-2.

Let's hope Joel has a least taken enough out of the Frenchman so that Jonny Gray can see him off in R2.

Lloyd has been having a bit of a slump recently - lost in R1 last week and again in R1 this week :::(((

Well done to Jonny Gray who keeps up the recent good form, though shame it had to be Josh P that he took out.

Finn lost 1-6 4-6 which is reasonable enough....

Max is battling well too but also on the losing end at the moment, down 4-6 2-3*

Jay's into a third set.

Ryan 3-3

Get your facts right CD, Lloyd lost in the 2nd round last week, he beat Roncali in the 1st round!

Quite true, Mark. Sorry.

Still counts as a bit of a 'slump', though, for the top ranked GB player.

Max Stewart and Ryan Storrie seem to have withdrawn from the doubles. Coz of Ryan's long match? Possibly ?

Anyway, Finn and old hand, Morgan Phillips, have got the ALT place, so good luck to them.

Scott Clayton's singles slump continues. Scott Duncan has his first ranking point.
