7pm and still 4 games still to start.

A couple of very feisty games involving Adam TB who lost and apparently refused to shake hands and Adam Jones again who had a few big arguments over calls with his Italian opponent.

Anton won again in straight sets, but didn't play as well as earlier on.

A win over a top-1000 player for young 15 year-old Anton (as reported first by paulisi above) is a great win !

Well looks like Anton and his team chose wisely playing some senior tennis this weekend with more tennis on Monday.

It will be very interesting to see how Anton goes again against Gian Marco, they had a very close first set in Tipton.

Cheers Bob - left at 9.05 after Josh P had won and Tiran was still in the first set.

So a few thoughts from today. The standard of tennis at this level is increasing over the years and was pretty decent today.

Anton was the stand out today - he is a real talent for his age.
There were a few others that caught my eye - Joel Cannell looked very comfortable. Josh Paris looked solid, although I don't think he was anywhere near his best and Luke Oakley seems to be playing very well at the moment.

There are a few glimmers of optimism down the rankings - Luke Johnson will pick up more ranking points if he plays like he did in the second set. Mason Recci played a couple of nice matches and looks useful. I actually thought Sean Hodkin shoes promise. Tiran has a nice game and will come on for the experience, but Simon Carr is on the up at present and was probably a step too far. I quite liked Jack Malloy's style and attitude, but he made far too many errors. George Davies has a major weapon in his serve. It's big and for a right handed he can get a lot of swing. If he can tidy up the groundstrokes he will go places. I can see why Jonathon Binding keeps going well on the British Tour. Only a matter of time before he picks up a few ranking points.

As for the format - very harsh on players who have to play two matches especially when the second match is against someone fresh.

Although the viewing may not be great to the far courts, the club does a lot more than most at this level. The facilities are pretty good and a good menu of hot food. There is a civic reception after the main draw and some of the patrons put up players for the week.

Thanks for the insight Paulisi.  Sounds like Simon Carr vs Joel Cannell should be a good game tomorrow. Are you back there again ?
