Unfortunately, he couldn't. He served for the second set at 5-3, but couldn't hang on!
I really don't see this partnership lasting. Mergea has already dumped Dom once and as of now their combined ranking is probably not good enough for them to get into Masters events and Mergea could easily get in with a better ranked partner.
That thought went through my mind when I saw the result!
Further to this Mergea has entered Dubai 500 in two weeks with Victor Troicki with Dom being third alternate with Scott Lipsky. They would have been the last direct acceptance had they entered together. Especially with the random nature of Mergea's partner I would suggest they ended their partnership after this latest result.
