Agreed a good performance, although I am not suprised. It is consistent with Paulsi's statement, her ranking reflects how few tournaments her schooling allows her to play as opposed to her performance level. Generally with the exception of Finland she goes very deep into tournaments as an unseeded player.
She is at a very academic school where she will be expected to keep up regardless of her tennis commitments, it will be very interesting watching her development which will be a contrast to the even more precocious Holly Fischer who I believe is much more tennis focused from the get go (please correct me if I am wrong)
It is good to see further affirmation of Emma's abilities at this level ( from her only 3 junior outings in the last year she has two G4 runners up from GB and Luxembourg and that one QF in Finland that Oakland refers to ) with such a decisive win against a 17yo top 150 regular junior entrant, now in her final year of junior eligibility.
It is difficult to be sure just how good she is with her academic commitments and very limited competition, but as paulisi infers the evidence such as it is suggests very good so a good win indeed for the 14 yo but difficult to pin down as a real shock. In a very different place from her opponent.
Others will know more about Emma and how say her Tennis Europe results have stacked up.
I saw her play her first ITF at Liverpool when she was just eligible and she won it - G5. Given she has another 12 months growth and experience, I would expect her to be competitive at a much higher grade.
She can play...
Bromley seem to have their heads screwed on and those who seem to be based there don't seem to play to much ITF and concentrate on studies.
Just for comparison Jodie Burrage won the same tournament - but was slightly older(14) and she is now top 20 junior and ITF ranked
Bromley tennis centre can't really ignore all things academic as it is on the grounds of one of the most academic girls schools in the country, i.e. a super selective girls grammar, not really ideal in terms of recruiting athletes because 98% and that is a conservative estimate won't get a sniff, however the fastest current British female sprinter and Kings History undergraduate is a product, there are one or two who can scive double Latin and play some tennis (emma) and it is fairly accessible to SE London and most of Kent.
I would love to see a similar set up in a massive comprehensive somewhere!!

I've no idea where Emma attends school but historically very few of the girls associsted with the Bromley Tennis Academy have been pupils at the school where it is located.
