To say Marcus is not happy about today is probably an understatement. I've been to this event a number of times and they normally roll out courtside seating for the finals, but not before. Today they had groups of school children watching, plus ball kids. The ball kids clearly had little training and while the watching kids were generally wel behaved there was obviously the odd noise, and moving when it wasn't change of ends. Marcus wasn't focused as a result and Guez dealt with it better.

Good on Tipton for trying to make an event of it.  Shame Marcus lost a key point due to the error of the ball kid but lets do happen in matches - often at this level (at least early in the week) from balls rolling over from adjacent courts because there are no ballkids!!  There's never really hushed silence at this level of event and Marcus is experienced enough that he should be able to keep his focus through it.  Pity he didn't come through, he must be keen to be up and away from futures.

Absolutely. It's the attitude we need every such event in Britian to have to help grow tennis.

To be fair most clubs hosting ITFs do this sort of thing - mainly at the weekend...

R but this ones in the Black Countray not rarly a hot bed of tennis, it's absolutely fantastic that they are getting an opportunity to participate in a professional tennis tournament they will never forget it!
