Oh and Marcus won 4 and 2 and played very well. I really am excited by Jonny mind!

Jay in a right battle. Went to a final set breaker and to be fair he was superb in it, taking it 7-1

He was superb in the second half of the final set in general.

I thought Jay had blown it when he went a break down at the start of the third set.  I should never have doubted the young man!  smile

Reasonable draws - Grigelis is not the player he once was.

Hoping we get a GB singles finalist and I may make the trip down (assuming it's not too early a start)

PS I notice Richard Joyner is director here and then director at Wirral - so will need to race up to organise qualifying sign in on Saturday evening

Nitpick for this event: they've put the matches tomorrow at opposite ends of the centre. I get that they don't want them next to each other but I would have thought it would be better for the spectator if the matches were opposite each other on either side of the balcony.

Edit: Edgbaston have their quarter finals next to one other, much better for the spectator to watch both.

Neil is really up against it.  Having lost the opener 6-1, he is now *2-4 down in the 2nd as well.

Marcus has just taken his 1st set 6-4

Marcus has been superb. 6-4 *5-2

Neil had an MTO in middle of second set, not sure what for though as I've been watching Marcus.

Marcus won 6-4 6-2.

Neil MTO was for a right shoulder injury. He lost 6-1 6-4.

Jay 4-1* up and Grigelis playing complete rubbish.

Jay is now *1-4 down in the 2nd, but more worryingly, someone is taking an MTO.

Well done to Marcus Willis, but so sorry for Neil Pauffley - he's had some super results. Hope this is a minor thing - and that he can let it heal. And hope Mr Clarke is all right ...

Oops. I've just left to go down the pub to get some food with the expectation of coming back for the third set so I can't tell you what it's for but Jay was complaining his hamstrings were tight before I left. He has played a lot tennis this week.

Part-timer wink

Thanks for the on-site info. Doesn't seem to be doing Jay too much harm. He is now 4-4 in that decider.

Enjoy. And shout for us too.
