I've been to Shrewsbury a few times and the viewing was good. Unless they've changed it recently.

Sure you're thinking of the right place?  There's a line of courts with a cafe with a glass wall beside court 1, so you can see that clearly but not really any of the rest as you're looking down the line of them.  There's also an upstairs viewing gallery where you can get a good look at the 2 middle courts.  It's a reasonable size area but the viewing windows are quite small and depending on the number of people watching it can be quite hard to get a spot where you get a good view.  But agree, very nice club and friendly venue.

Oops!!  It's me whose thinking of the wrong place - I was describing Wrexham no

Shrewsbury is a great venue, but viewing on the main courts near the balcony is great. The far courts are not great to watch.

Yes that's the problem, you can only see the two end courts from the small balcony ( if you get your place early enough), you can't watch the other courts very well.  Properly designed tennis halls such as Loughborough, Edgbaston etc have a raised walkway between the two sets of courts so you can walk up and down and stand directly behind any court and view without obstruction.

Wrexham hasn't hosted an ITF indoor tournament for a while, the previous one's were outdoors and spectator facilities were limited.

I've been to many a venue to watch ITFs/Challengers/ATP/WTA events(Liverpool, Wirral, Wrexham, Preston, Manchester(SC), Didsbury, Ilkley, Edgbaston, Nottingham, Wimbledon, Sydney etc and they all have their downfalls in one way or another, but most indoor centres have a raised walkway with viewing behind one end of the court. Shrewsbury have floor level curtains.

Still no results or draws up for Tipton yet.

Glasgow is very good with its one stand facing side on to 3 courts on one side with four courts on the other side, two being mainly practice courts, and a raised a walkway in between so yes can easily watch any match from one end of the court as well as side on to the 'main' court from the stand with two courts beyond.

Would clearly be potentially more difficult with more people on the walkway, but seemed generally just coaches, acquaintances and a few general spectators so as I say was very easy to just make a choice where to hang for a while.

Glasgow efforts certainly being rewarded with WCs for Aidan McHugh, Jonathan Gray and Marcus Walters. The fourth goes to Joel Connell.

Interesting little section :
(5) Willis vs (WC) McHugh
(WC) Cannell vs (WC) Gray

Jay Clarke meets his SF conquerer from last week, Hugo Grenier (FRA), the Glasgow losing finalist.

With *no Brits through from qualifying, our 10 in R1 are very unevenly spread through the quarters, i.e. 1 (Jay), 4, 5 and 0.

* Evidently Canter lost in QR2 6-4 6-4 so we did not have an all Brit Gosea vs Canter match in the FQR.

To lose all five FQR matches is a little disappointing, to say the least....

Not great draws in reality. Glasspool and Willis should go deep, but the rest may struggle. Neil v Jonny should be interesting

Agree - rather grim draws for the younger players. And a real pity that Neil Pauffley and Jonny O'Mara, two of our best, play each other in the first round. Ah well ...

Jonny O'Mara has retired midway through the 1st set against Neil Pauffley. Now I'm worried.

Scott lost the 1st set on a TB and Jay C is already *0-2 down. Not a good day for the Brits so far, but a long way to go.
