Week 6 - Spain F4 ($15,000) - Peguera, Mallorca (clay)

A WC Spaniard at Rafael Nadal's home base may well not be your standard UNR player. Just hope that Mr Ward is well ....

Edit:

... or, to rephrase, 4-6 6-4 sounds more like a tennis score than a railway engine.

Bob is great Billy fan, and has him as a 'prospect' in his top 500 team.

So, bravo, Billy ! And Uncle Bob too smile

Yes. When his game is in sync, he hits a big ball.  He can definitely trouble some of the higher ranked players.  His biggest problem, as with so many of our players around that age sadly, is trying to stay fit.  He has had shoulder problems which have definitely curtailed his progress.

The other problem that Billy will have this year is that if he appears at Murcia next week expecting to get his shirts (et al) cleaned again, the laundry service is on another continent at the moment so he will have to "play dirty" as they say.

Bob, Billy is obviously aware that there are no laundry services on offer. He is not down on any of the lists for Murcia, indeed James Allemby has also withdrawn and it doesn't look the star studded festival of junior talent that was on offer last year.

The ITF have been even more radical given your absence and the potential risk of exposure to Billy's BO and the boys give Cartegena a complete miss this year!!!! and head back up to Barcelona or "the city of laundromats" as it is better known.

Looks like play has been abandoned for the day and Billy's match has been put back to tomorrow.

Anyone know if Billy is still driving himself around and living out the back of a van? I think I've got that right!

Billy is clearly not a morning person. Lost the 1st set 6-1, but then woke up and fought back to take the 2nd 6-2.

Into a decider.

Travaglia won last week's event.

That's a new career-best win for Billy, beating his previous best of 397 from last year.

Today's win may see Billy break into the top 1000 for the 1st time when these points are added on 20th Feb, although that will be shortlived unless he can pick up some more points as his QF points from Murcia last year come off a week later and his point from Cartagena comes off the week after that.
